Why WASP

There are a lot of WhatsApp apps for Shopify.
Here's why WASP is different.

We didn't bolt COD automation onto a generic messaging tool. We built from scratch for one problem: COD merchants losing money on orders that were never real.

Reason 1

Built for COD. Not bolted onto it.

Most WhatsApp apps are generic messaging platforms — abandoned cart recovery, shipping notifications, chat widgets — with a "COD module" quietly added later. COD is an afterthought.

WASP was designed from day one for one thing: helping COD merchants confirm orders, recover failed deliveries, and stop losing money to customers who never intended to pay. The COD confirmation flow, timeout logic, RTO recovery, and POS receipt system are not modules. They are the product.

Strict COD mode: only sends to orders with pending payment status — never bothers prepaid customers
Three confirmation timing modes: INSTANT, DELAYED, or TWO_STEP awareness-first
Natural language reply interpretation: 'yes', 'ok', 'نعم', 'confirm' all work
Auto-cancel and tagging synced back to Shopify with every outcome
Generic WhatsApp app vs. WASP
COD-specific confirmation flow ✗ Add-on ✓ Core feature
Timeout + auto-cancel ✗ Not included ✓ Configurable
RTO return recovery ✗ Not included ✓ 3-step flow
POS receipts ✗ Not included ✓ Included
Strict COD detection ✗ Not included ✓ Included
Shopify-native dashboard ✗ Separate portal ✓ Inside Shopify
Reason 2

Official API. Your number is safe.

Some popular WhatsApp Shopify apps — including WhatFlow — use an unofficial "Link a Device" method to send messages. It works by connecting to your personal WhatsApp account as if it were a second device, which Meta explicitly prohibits.

When Meta detects automated patterns — which it does — the linked number gets permanently banned. Merchants in India and Pakistan have lost their primary WhatsApp Business numbers this way after months of normal use. Recovering a banned number is nearly impossible.

WASP uses Meta's official WhatsApp Business API

This is the only method Meta supports for automated messaging. Your WhatsApp number — whether personal, business, or merchant WABA — cannot be banned for using WASP. Period.

What WhatFlow merchants are saying

"Got our WhatsApp Business account restricted by Meta after a few months of use. We lost the number we'd been using with customers for 2 years."

— Oblique — India, Shopify App Store

"WhatsApp Business account banned twice for using an unauthorized API. Do not use if you rely on WhatsApp for customer communication."

— Abihas Fashion — Pakistan, Shopify App Store

"The automation worked fine for months, then one morning our number was just gone. Meta doesn't give second chances."

— Anonymous reviewer — India
Reason 3

Automations that actually fire.

The single most common complaint across WhatsApp Shopify apps — across hundreds of reviews — is this: "The automation stopped working and I didn't know for days."

"Order confirmations fail about 30% of the time, shipping confirmations about 10% of the time. I only found out because a customer mentioned they never got a message."
— Grindhaus, India — Interakt customer, 8 months of use

WASP uses a durable task queue backed by PostgreSQL. Every confirmation task is persisted before it's attempted. If the send fails, it retries automatically — up to 10 times with exponential backoff. If it still fails, you get an alert. Silent failures don't happen because every task has a known state at all times.

10 automatic retries on failed sends
Exponential backoff — no thundering herd on recovery
Webhook durability inbox — no event dropped on crash
Every webhook stored before processing
Stuck task auto-recovery — tasks stuck >30 min auto-reset
PostgreSQL advisory locks prevent duplicate sends
Reason 4

Flat pricing. No BSP markup. No surprises.

WhatsApp messaging has its own cost — Meta's API rates. WhatsApp apps that act as BSPs (Business Solution Providers) add a 15–39% markup on top of those rates and charge it per message, often buried in fine print.

In July 2025, Meta switched from per-conversation to per-message pricing. A 3-message confirmation sequence now costs 3× what it did before — and apps with BSP markups pass all of that through. Merchants have seen their monthly costs multiply overnight with no warning.

Real cost comparison at 1,000 COD orders/month
Interakt (Growth)
$26+
+ 25–39% per-message markup
Vrobo (Professional)
$29.99
for only 500 calls/messages
WASP (Recover)
$20
flat. 5,000 messages. No markup.
Reason 5

Shopify-native. Not Shopify-adjacent.

Most WhatsApp automation tools are standalone SaaS platforms with a Shopify connector. You log into their dashboard. Their interface. Their mental model. And you switch back and forth.

WASP lives inside your Shopify admin. The dashboard, settings, order list, recovery cases, and campaign manager are all embedded in Shopify — the same place you manage everything else about your store. There's no second login. No context switching. It feels like a Shopify feature, not a third-party app.

Orders tagged and noted directly in Shopify — no sync required
Billing through Shopify admin — cancel like any other app
Settings embedded in Shopify admin panel
Campaign audience pulls from Shopify customer segments natively
Webhooks registered and managed automatically by Shopify
Reason 6

5-minute setup. Real demo included.

The onboarding wizard sends you a real WhatsApp message before you activate anything. You see exactly what your customers will receive. You reply to it. You see the outcome reflected in the dashboard in real time. Then you go live.

No waiting for "the team to get back to you." No integration call. No setup fee. The whole process — install, connect WhatsApp, demo, activate — takes under 5 minutes for most merchants.
